Humble beginnings teaches us more about life. Throughout Dr.Priya’s childhood she always felt only a privileged few received the best education and all the needs of life. She wanted to change that notion first within herself and then among others like her. Education was the first step in her remarkable journey. Despite the odds, Dr.Priya’s obstacle laden family struggles did not stop her from pursuing the ambition she always wanted. Since the age of eight, Dr. Priya worked towards becoming a doctor. Dr. Priya gained a Bachelor of Medicine and specialized in Ophthalmology. Her career has included stints as a Medical Practitioner with the Public Health Sector. When asked why she choose the Medical sector, she would often share, “I wanted to help people, and being a doctor is one of those professions with a healing touch.” After attaining her dream, she looked back at her first apprehenshions as a small girl and wanted to share her story of hard work with other children and she decided to use education as a key. When thinking about her duty to the young children and youth around her, she shares, “I learnt a lot from simply being quiet and observing people… Beyond physical appearance, it’s what you have in your mind that empowers you.” Dr. Priya always felt that education was the only opportunity to gain access for those shut out of opportunities in our society. Currently, Dr. Priya has dedicated her energy to treat high risk mothers and babies at Jk Hospital , Tamil Nadu, along with this she puts long hours through JK Foundation in supporting all back-end activities and in helping children understand the importance of education.
