Educating girls… transforming Lives
Million girls are out of school and in rural areas girls receive an average of fewer than four years of education. There is a belief among rural areas that girls should stop schooling after reaching puberty.
India has the highest number of child brides in Asia. There is also a painful dogma that educating a girl is futile – a waste of time and money; as they are born only to be married off and manage the household.
Educated women are capable of bringing socio-economic changes. Her identity as an individual would never get lost. Educated women are looked upon with dignity and honour.
Our Hospital is situated on the outskirts of Tirunelveli and is surrounded by many villages. We observed and adopted 22 poor but deserving girls and sponsored their training in Nursing Assistance and Lab technician course giving them a livelihood to sustain themselves and their families independently. Standing in the picture are the girls who studied Diploma in Nursing along with senior tutors.
