Strong women, Strong Village

Women account for two-thirds of the world illiterate adults.[UN, 2015]. Women compromise 98%of the estimated 4.5 million forced into sexual exploitation.[ILO, 2012]. 700 million women alive today were married before the age of 18and a third of them before the age of 15.[UNICEF, 2014]. Women continue to be paid less for equal work with women being paid less for equal work with women being paid on an average globally 24% less than men.[World Bank, 2014].

Very few girls from the rural communities of Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, South India get the opportunity of continuing their education beyond primary school. Colleges, mostly several kilometers away in larger towns, are not accessible to them for two main reasons:

their parents cannot afford higher studies or college,

or they do not have school or college facilities nearby  home.

All our initiatives began as simple efforts. As an experiment

we established an opportunity to provide a college education for girls from rural communities in Tirunelveli, South India. The project, opened in 2010,  at JK Hospital Campus offering courses in -Health Care Nursing Assistance and Laboratory Assistance for up to 22 girls from remote villages of Ayankulam and Puthukulam, Tirunelveli, South India.

The girls were provided with everything necessary like stationery and lab equipments. Educating the girls ultimately will make a change for whole family and future generations.
