Giving wings to Tribal Children

India is a colourful country comprising of a variety of cultures and communities. Amongst them we tend to forget the most sidelined community- the Tribals. One of the first steps to developing a community is education. Education is one of the primary agents of transformation towards development. Education is in fact, an input not only for economic development of tribes but also for inner strength of the tribal communities which helps them in meeting the new challenges of life. JKF discovering the amazing talent and creativity of tribal children, is working towards honing their skills and ensuring they have a bright future. In this context   we had identified Laxmi who tragically became a widow as her husband had succumbed to kidney failure in 2009. Laxmi belongs to the ‘Kurumba’ tribal community in Nilgris and is survived with three daughters. JKF adopted Laxmi’s youngest daughter and is financially supporting her on a monthly basis.

JKF feels that if these little ones are given a chance to explore their own ideas, they would bring out their exceptional abilities and express their creativity. JKF is keen on that these children should be taught to safeguard their own rights as well as the rights of their community and resolve to combat exploitation against their people.
